A donning aid is a frame or device that holds a compression stocking open so you can step into it and draw it up with much less effort. It is designed for people who find bending, gripping or reaching difficult, including those with limited hand strength, reduced mobility or back problems. Because the stocking is guided rather than tugged, the fabric takes less strain, which helps the garment keep its shape over time.

The Arion Magnide 2in1 1709 uses a magnetic system that guides the stocking into place, so you can put it on and take it off without bending or struggling with the fabric. The JUZO EasyFit is a rigid-frame aid with a long, curved handle and a clasping element, so it also handles both putting the stocking on and stepping out of it without deep bending. Yes. Both the Arion Magnide 2in1 1709 and the JUZO EasyFit are made to work with open-toe and closed-toe stockings. Both are also doffing aids as well as donning aids, which matters because taking a compression stocking off at the end of the day can be as hard as putting it on.

A donning aid is not a compression garment, so the prescription rules that apply to CCL 3, CCL 4 and custom flat-knit garments are not the issue here — what needs a prescription is the stocking itself, and which compression class you need is a decision for your doctor or for a fitting with our specialist. Handling the stocking with an aid means less pulling and stretching, particularly at the top band, which should never be used to haul the garment up. Without an aid, turn the stocking inside out down to the heel, place the foot in, then work it up smoothing wrinkles as you go; grip gloves and Arion Easy-Slide aids make this easier in the higher classes. A medical compression garment typically lasts 4 to 6 months of daily wear before it stops compressing properly, so replacing roughly every six months is normal, and gentle handling helps you reach that.
