Compression Stocking Systems for Venous Ulcers

An ulcer system is a two-part garment: a liner worn next to the skin and an outer stocking worn over it, so that sustained compression is applied over a dressing. The JUZO Ulcer Pro is made by Julius Zorn GmbH in Germany and combines a CCL 1 liner with a CCL 2 outer stocking, which together give a combined therapeutic pressure. The materials are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. It is used as part of the management of venous leg ulcers, as advised by your clinician.

The liner goes on first, over the dressing your clinician has applied, and helps hold it in place; the outer stocking is then pulled on over the liner. Turn each piece inside out down to the heel, put the foot in, then work it up while smoothing out wrinkles, and never pull it up by the top band. Standard compression stockings are removed at night, but the wearing schedule for an ulcer system — including anything worn overnight — is set by the clinician managing your treatment, so follow their instructions.

CCL 1 and most ready-made CCL 2 garments do not require a prescription, while CCL 3, CCL 4 and every custom flat-knit therapeutic garment do. The compression class is never a choice you should make from a product page: it belongs to your doctor, or to a fitting with one of our specialists. If you have a doctor's referral, bring it with you to the fitting.

We offer a fitting in our Business Bay clinic at 610 Clover Bay Tower (30-45 minutes), a home visit in Dubai or Abu Dhabi (45-60 minutes), or a guided video consultation (20-30 minutes); in-clinic and virtual fittings are free when a garment is bought from us, and a home visit may carry a travel fee depending on the area. Please wear loose clothing that gives easy access to the leg being measured. Ready-made sizes are held in stock, and custom flat-knit garments are made to your own measurements at Juzo in Germany, taking 3 to 4 weeks from the day the measurements are confirmed.

Machine wash at 40 C on a gentle cycle in a mesh laundry bag, using a detergent made for compression garments. Do not use fabric softener, do not tumble dry and do not iron, as heat and softener break down the elastic fibres and the compression goes with them. A medical compression garment usually lasts 4 to 6 months of daily wear, so replacing roughly every six months is normal.
