In the months after an amputation the residual limb goes through a long phase of change. Swelling rises and falls, and the limb gradually reduces and reshapes as it matures. A stump shrinker guides that process. Worn over the limb, it applies even, graduated compression that controls oedema, keeps swelling down between therapy sessions, and helps the limb settle into the stable, tapered shape a prosthetic socket is fitted to.

Getting that shape stable and consistent is the goal, because a limb that keeps swelling or changing volume makes a comfortable, secure prosthesis hard to achieve. Worn consistently, day and night through the early phase, a shrinker keeps the limb ready for each fitting and helps you progress toward a well fitting prosthesis sooner.

Our range uses the durable Juzo Dynamic knit in above knee and below knee forms, including an above knee version with a hip attachment that anchors the shrinker securely at the waist. The soft, breathable fabric suits the near constant wear this stage needs and stays comfortable in the UAE climate.

Which shrinker do I need?

• Below knee: shapes and controls swelling in the residual limb below the knee.
• Above knee: covers the residual limb above the knee for firm, even shaping.
• Above knee with hip attachment: adds a waist level hold to keep the shrinker securely in place.
• Custom made circular knit: a made to measure Juzo Dynamic shrinker when standard sizes do not fit.
• Custom made flat knit: a Juzo Expert shrinker in firmer flat knit fabric for more pronounced swelling or where the tissue needs stronger containment.

Because the limb changes as it heals, sizing is best confirmed by measurement. For limbs outside the standard range, or where swelling is more advanced, a custom made shrinker is knitted to your own measurements in Germany, in either circular knit Juzo Dynamic or firmer flat knit Juzo Expert.
