Overview

Lymphedema Compression Toe Portion Caps

Toe caps apply gentle compression across the toes, an area standard stockings often miss, to control localised lymphoedema and oedema. Thin and easy to wear inside footwear, they complement stockings and wraps for complete foot management.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a compression toe cap and what is it used for?
A toe cap is a small compression piece worn over the toes and forefoot, the area an open-toe stocking or a standard sock leaves uncovered. It applies gentle, even compression across that area and is used as part of the management of lymphoedema and oedema of the toes and forefoot, as advised by a clinician. In this category we carry the JUZO Classic Seamless ZEA toe cap and the JUZO ACS Light Foot Wrap, both made in Germany.
Do I wear a toe cap on its own or with a stocking?
The JUZO Classic Seamless ZEA is designed to be worn together with an open-toe compression stocking, so the leg and the toes are covered as one system. The JUZO ACS Light Foot Wrap is an adjustable Velcro wrap for the foot and forefoot and is usually worn with a matching calf wrap for full lower-leg compression. Which combination suits you is decided by your doctor or at a fitting with our specialist.
How do I get the right size, and can toe caps be made to measure?
The Classic Seamless ZEA is shaped for the left or right foot and comes in standard sizes, so the fit depends on accurate measurements of your foot and toes. We measure you in our Business Bay clinic (30-45 minutes), at a home visit in Dubai or Abu Dhabi (45-60 minutes), or by guided video consultation (20-30 minutes); please wear loose clothing that gives easy access to the foot and leg. If a ready-made size does not fit, toe caps can also be made custom to your own measurements at Juzo in Germany, which takes 2 to 4 weeks from the day the measurements are confirmed.
Do I need a prescription, and how is the compression class chosen?
Compression garments are made in classes, usually written as CCL 1 to CCL 4, each with a different pressure range in mmHg. CCL 1 and most ready-made CCL 2 garments do not need a prescription, while CCL 3, CCL 4 and every custom flat-knit therapeutic garment do. The class itself is never something you should pick yourself — it is decided by your doctor or at a fitting with our specialist, and if you have a referral letter please bring it with you.
How do I wash a toe cap and how long does it last?
Wash it at 40 C on a gentle machine cycle in a mesh laundry bag, using a detergent made for compression garments. Do not use fabric softener, a tumble dryer or an iron, because heat and softener break down the elastic fibres and the compression goes with them. A medical compression garment typically holds its compression for about 4 to 6 months of daily wear, so replacing roughly every six months is normal, and having a second piece lets you wear one while the other dries.
