Overview

Medical Scar Compression Gloves for Burn Care

Pressure gloves apply controlled, even compression over the hand and fingers to soften scars, preserve movement and reduce contracture risk after burns. Thin, durable fabric allows daily function while delivering the sustained pressure scar therapy requires.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are medical scar compression gloves used for?
Pressure gloves apply controlled, even compression across the hand and fingers, and are used as part of scar management after burns or hand surgery, as advised by a clinician. Sustained pressure is intended to help soften scar tissue, support movement and reduce the risk of contracture. The Juzo ScarPrime Seamless range is made from thin, breathable fabric with open fingers so the hand can still be used during the day.
What is the difference between the JUZO ScarPrime Seamless HFA and HFD?
Both are ready-made, seamless scar compression gloves with open fingers, and both come in standard sizes so treatment can start without waiting. The HFA is the short model, cut at wrist length, and covers the hand only. The HFD is the long model, extending up the forearm in one garment, which suits scars or burns that reach beyond the wrist.
How long each day should a scar compression glove be worn, and how long does one last?
Wearing time in scar therapy is set by the treating clinician or surgeon, as it depends on the stage of healing and the individual case, so follow the schedule you were given. Many people are asked to remove the glove only for washing and skin care. As a guide to replacement, a medical compression garment usually holds its compression for about 4 to 6 months of daily wear, so replacing roughly every six months is normal.
How do I get measured, and do I need a custom glove or a ready-made one?
You can be measured at our clinic at 610 Clover Bay Tower, Business Bay, Dubai, during a home visit in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, or in a guided video consultation; in-clinic and virtual fittings are free when a garment is bought from us, and a home visit may carry a travel fee confirmed at booking. Wear loose clothing that gives easy access to the hand and arm, and bring any doctor's referral. Ready-made ScarPrime Seamless gloves come in standard sizes and are held in stock, while custom flat-knit garments are made to your own measurements at Juzo in Germany and take 2 to 4 weeks from the day measurements are confirmed. Which route suits you is decided with your doctor or with our fitting specialist.
How do I wash a compression glove, and can I use a pressure pad underneath it?
Machine wash at 40 C on a gentle cycle in a mesh laundry bag, using a detergent made for compression garments. Do not use fabric softener, do not tumble dry and do not iron, as heat and softener break down the elastic fibres and the compression with them. The JUZO Pressure Pad is a foam insert that can be placed under a compression glove or sleeve to concentrate extra pressure on a specific area of localised swelling, and it is available in normal and long lengths — whether it is right for you is a question for your clinician or our specialist.
