Overview

Medical Abdominal Binders & Support Belts

An abdominal binder provides quick, adjustable support across the midsection, helping to stabilise the abdominal wall, reduce swelling and improve comfort when moving after surgery. Wide hook-and-loop panels make it easy to set your own pressure and re-fasten as needed, making the binder a versatile first-stage or top-up garment during recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an abdominal binder and what is it used for?
An abdominal binder is a wrap-style belt that fastens across the midsection with wide hook-and-loop panels, giving firm, even support to the abdominal wall. The REV.0203 Revee Binder is made in Italy by Revee and was developed in collaboration with Dr. Ezio Gangemi of the Plastic and Hand Surgery Unit at Ospedale Maria Vittoria in Turin, for use as part of recovery after abdominal surgery such as hernia repair, tummy tuck or liposuction, as advised by a clinician. Many people find it makes moving, standing and getting out of bed more comfortable in the early stages of recovery. Whether a binder is suitable for you, and when you start wearing it, is a decision for your surgeon.
How is the binder adjusted, and how many hours a day should it be worn?
The Revee Binder wraps around the waist and closes with wide hook-and-loop panels, so you set the tension yourself and can re-fasten it during the day as swelling changes or as you sit and stand. It should feel supportive and even, never so tight that it restricts breathing or digs in. How many hours a day and for how many weeks you wear it is set by the surgeon or clinician managing your recovery, and we follow their instructions rather than giving our own schedule.
How do I know which size and height to order?
The Revee Binder comes in two heights and in versions for men and women, and the size is based on your own measurements rather than your usual clothing size. You can be measured at our clinic at 610 Clover Bay Tower, Business Bay, Dubai (30-45 minutes), at a home visit in Dubai or Abu Dhabi (45-60 minutes), or in a guided video consultation (20-30 minutes) where we talk you through measuring yourself. In-clinic and virtual fittings are free when you buy a garment from us; a home visit may carry a travel fee depending on the area, which a colleague confirms when booking. Wear loose clothing that gives easy access to the waist and abdomen.
Do I need a prescription, and can I wear the binder with other compression garments?
A prescription is not required to buy an abdominal binder. It is often used as a first-stage or top-up garment alongside other post-surgery compression wear, and it can be combined with them if your clinician has advised that. If you have a referral or written instructions from your surgeon, bring them to your fitting so our specialist can work to them — our fitters are certified in medical compression therapy and trained by Juzo in Germany.
How do I wash the binder and how long will it last?
Wash it at 40 C on a gentle cycle in a mesh laundry bag, using a detergent made for compression garments. Do not use fabric softener, do not tumble dry and do not iron: heat and softener break down the elastic fibres and the garment stops supporting properly. Compression garments in daily use typically hold their support for around 4 to 6 months, so replacement at about that point is normal. If the hook-and-loop panels stop gripping or the fabric no longer feels firm, speak to us about a replacement.
