Frequently Asked Questions
What are compression leggings and pants for lipedema and lymphedema?
These are medical garments that apply graduated pressure over the legs, hips and lower body, worn as part of the management of lipedema, lymphedema and everyday swelling as advised by a clinician. The range covers footless leggings such as the JUZO Classic Seamless BT, bermuda-length panties like the JUZO Classic Seamless FT Women, full-leg pantyhose in the JUZO Dynamic AT (closed or open crotch), and the REV.0109 Lipo Revee, designed for recovery after lipedema liposuction of the lower limbs. Which garment and which compression class are right for you is decided by your doctor or at a fitting with our specialist.
What is the difference between the compression classes, and do I need a prescription?
Compression classes describe how much pressure a garment applies, measured in mmHg, and the JUZO Dynamic AT is available in class 1, 2 or 3 with an open or closed toe. CCL 1 and most ready-made CCL 2 garments do not require a prescription, while CCL 3, CCL 4 and every custom flat-knit therapeutic garment do. We do not recommend a class — that decision belongs to your doctor or to a fitting with our certified specialist, and if you have a referral, please bring it with you.
How do I get measured, and when should I choose custom instead of ready-made?
We measure at our clinic at 610 Clover Bay Tower, Business Bay, Dubai (30–45 minutes), on a home visit in Dubai or Abu Dhabi (45–60 minutes), or by guided video consultation (20–30 minutes); in-clinic and virtual fittings are free when you buy a garment from us, and a home visit may carry a travel fee that a colleague confirms when booking. Please wear loose clothing that gives easy access to the legs. Ready-made garments come in standard sizes and are held in stock, while custom flat-knit garments are made to your own measurements at Juzo in Germany and take 3 to 4 weeks from the day measurements are confirmed, in over 30 colours and in standard, antibacterial Silver or Cotton fabric.
How long do I wear them each day, and how do I put them on?
Wearing time is set by your doctor or our specialist; standard compression garments are generally worn through the day and taken off at night, and some conditions call for a purpose-made night garment instead, which is a question for the specialist. To put a stocking or tights on, turn the garment inside out down to the heel, place the foot in, then work it up while smoothing out wrinkles — never pull it up by the top band. Arion Easy-Slide aids and grip gloves make this much easier, particularly in the higher classes, and the JUZO Dynamic AT open-crotch version allows toileting without taking the tights off.
How do I wash compression leggings, and how long do they last?
Machine wash at 40 C on a gentle cycle in a mesh laundry bag, using a detergent made for compression garments. Do not use fabric softener, do not tumble dry and do not iron: heat and softener break down the elastic fibres and the compression goes with them. A medical compression garment typically lasts 4 to 6 months of daily wear, so replacing roughly every six months is normal, and many people keep a second garment so one can be worn while the other dries.
