Postpartum & C-Section Recovery Garments

Support for your body after birth

The weeks after having a baby ask a lot of your body. Whether you had a vaginal birth or a caesarean, gentle compression can support the abdominal muscles as they recover, ease back strain, and help you feel more secure and comfortable through the postnatal period. For many mothers it also helps with the swelling and heavy, aching legs that pregnancy often leaves behind.

Healfit offers two kinds of postnatal support, because recovery after birth has two very different needs. Speak to our certified fitters in Dubai to find the right option for you, with home visits available across the Emirates.

Abdominal and C-section recovery

After a caesarean or a vaginal birth, an abdominal support garment wraps the midsection in gentle, even compression. This supports the recovering abdominal wall, takes strain off your back as you lift and feed your baby, and adds comfort and security around a healing caesarean incision. Soft, breathable fabric and adjustable closures let the garment move with your changing shape through the early weeks. After a caesarean, begin only once your doctor confirms your incision is healing well.

Leg and vein support for pregnancy and after

Pregnancy places real pressure on the veins in your legs, which is why swelling, heaviness, and varicose veins are so common both during pregnancy and in the weeks after birth. Medical compression stockings and tights improve circulation, reduce that swelling and heaviness, and lower the risk of blood clots during a higher risk period. Our Juzo maternity and circulation range includes sheer stockings and maternity tights shaped for a growing bump, as well as everyday compression tights for after birth. For more on venous care, see our varicose and vein care range.

Which do I need?

  • Abdominal binder: for core and back support and comfort around a caesarean incision after birth.
  • Maternity compression tights: shaped for a bump, to ease leg swelling and heaviness during pregnancy.
  • Compression stockings or tights: for varicose veins, aching legs and circulation support during and after pregnancy.

Our products are Rafed registered. Your treating hospital or clinic can request them under your insurance plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I start wearing a compression garment after giving birth?
After a vaginal birth you can usually begin gentle abdominal support within the first days, once you feel comfortable. After a caesarean, wait until your doctor confirms your incision is healing well before wearing an abdominal garment over it. Leg compression stockings can generally be worn straight away and are often recommended during pregnancy too.
Is it safe to wear a belly binder after a C-section?
Yes, once your incision is healing and your doctor has given the go ahead. A gentle abdominal garment supports the recovering muscles and eases back strain while you care for your baby, and many mothers find it adds comfort and security around the incision. Choose gentle, breathable compression rather than very tight shapewear, and stop if anything feels painful.
Are compression stockings safe to wear during pregnancy?
Yes. Medical compression stockings are widely recommended in pregnancy to ease swollen, heavy legs, support the veins, and reduce the risk of blood clots, which is higher during pregnancy. Maternity tights are shaped to fit a growing bump comfortably. A fitting confirms the right compression class, as pregnancy usually calls for a gentle to moderate level.
How long should I wear postpartum compression?
It varies. Many mothers wear abdominal support for the first six to eight weeks as the core recovers, and leg compression for as long as swelling or vein symptoms last, which can be several weeks after birth. There is no fixed rule, so wear it while it feels supportive and comfortable, and ask your fitter or doctor if you are unsure.
Will a compression garment affect breastfeeding or comfort?
No. Abdominal and leg garments sit below the chest and do not interfere with breastfeeding. Comfort matters most in this period, so the garments use soft, breathable fabric and adjustable closures that adapt as your body changes. If a garment ever feels too tight or restrictive, size up or ask us to check the fit.
